Post Lumbar Epidural Steroid Injection Instructions

1. Do not drive yourself home.

2. Take it easy for several hours after the injection until you are confident that you are not having any side effects.

3. Leave the bandage on for one day and you may then resume showering.

4. Expect some soreness at the injection site. Local application of ice may help to reduce the soreness.

5. You may take Tylenol or Advil for any local discomfort.

6. A post-injection headache is a possibility. If this occurs, spend most of your time lying flat and drink plenty of fluids. If the headaches are not severe, please contact Dr. Brager during daytime hours on Monday through Friday. However, should you have a severe headache, fever, chills or other severe reaction, you should call 911 and go to the Emergency Room.

7. Someone from our office is available 24 hours per day if you have an emergency. Call our office and the doctor on call will be contacted.
