Instructions on Splint Care
Your custom-made splint has been fabricated from a lightweight, low temperature plastic material. It was designed for your specific injury.
Proper care of this material is required to maintain a proper fit. It is important that you:
Do not place your splint on anything hot, or on anything that will generate heat.
Do not leave your splint sitting in the car for long periods of time. If you do,
your splint may soften.
Clean your splint in cool, soapy water or rubbing alcohol.
Do not remove your splint for any reason if you have been instructed to wear
your splint at all times.
Keep your dressing dry and clean under your splint if a dressing was applied.
Check your skin regularly for areas of pressure, irritation or swelling. Call your
doctor for any adjustment that may need to be made to your splint.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call our office.
